Falconets captain Christianah Uzoma has credited the team’s determination for their impressive 3-0 victory over England in the Round of 16 at the ongoing 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.
Moses Aduku’s side delivered a dominant performance on Thursday to secure their place in the quarter-finals, with goals from Tosin Rafiu, Janet Akekoromowei and Mary Mary Mamudu.
Uzoma Hails Fighting Spirit
Uzoma, who produced a series of crucial saves during the encounter, including tipping Rachel Maltby’s penalty onto the crossbar, said the team was determined to avoid elimination.

“Our performance was good, and we told ourselves that we were not going to lose this game. We don’t want to go home. We came with determination,” Uzoma told FIFA.
Falconets Target Trophy
The shot stopper also revealed that the team’s ambition extends beyond the quarter-finals, with their sights firmly set on lifting the trophy.
“We hope to get to the final. Our hope is to win the World Cup,” she added.
Nigeria will face Colombia in the quarter-finals in Łódź on Sunday, with a place in the semi-finals at stake.
