Jakarta (ANTARA) - Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo said that the provincial health office oversees 31 public hospitals and 336 community health centers (puskesmas) that have been designated disability-friendly.

"Jakarta has 44 puskesmas, 31 hospitals, and 292 supporting puskesmas, all of which are friendly to people with disabilities," he said during the Special Kids Expo (SPEKIX) 2026 in Senayan, Central Jakarta, on Saturday.

He added that Jakarta is among the few regions in Indonesia where all government-run healthcare facilities are disability-friendly.

"Not many provinces provide comprehensive health services [to people with disabilities]," Pramono affirmed.

The governor also highlighted the White Troops program, describing it as an initiative designed to serve older adults and residents with disabilities, including children.

"There are a total of 584 White Troops personnel tasked with providing services from one village to another," he said, noting that the program is intended to improve access to ambulances and other public services.

Women's Empowerment and Child Protection Minister Arifatul Choiri Fauzi praised the Jakarta administration for setting an example through concrete efforts to create a more inclusive environment for children, including through pilot projects.

She expressed her ministry's commitment to continuing collaboration with the provincial government and SPEKIX organizers on strategic initiatives.

"Let us synergize and take further steps to create bridges and solutions for the needs of our children," Fauzi said.

The minister also voiced her appreciation for parents caring for children with disabilities.

"Being parents to children with disabilities is not easy. Nevertheless, we must be grateful. To fathers and mothers, keep in mind that you are not alone; let us do this together," she said, assuring them of the government's support.
