Coronation Street confirms Fiz showdown with Tyrone's dad Ross

Coronation Street's Tyrone Dobbs is thrown into the ring next week, as Ross Wilkes insists the boys of the house take up boxing to bond as a family. However, it seems that Ross is continuing to make an enemy of Tyrone's wife Fiz.
Trouble kicks off when Tyrone's daughter Ruby also shows an interest in boxing – and sexist Ross is having none of it. Will Ty stand up for his daughters as Ross continues to exert his influence over him?

"To say Ross has old-fashioned views is an understatement – he's not moved on much from caveman territory!" quips our Corrie insider.
"Ty really wants to impress his dad and have a relationship with him, but it could come at a cost to the women in his life."
After Ty and his dad visit a boxing club with little Dorin, Ross is soon pressuring Tyrone by buying the youngster his own gloves. And before long, he's forcing Ty and his son to go a few rounds in the middle of the living room.
But while it's clear neither of them enjoys it, Ross seems oblivious. The idea of men not wanting to get handy with their fists is clearly totally alien to him!
Ruby is keener, however, and decides to give the gloves a go. It turns out she loves the sport, and Fiz and Ty are clearly delighted for her to find a healthier way to channel her frustration and anger than her sister Hope ever did.

"Ross is having none of that," continues our insider. "When Ty sees his dad's disapproval, he ends up telling his daughter that boxing isn't for girls, and explains he's worried she could get hurt. Hope is quick to stand up for her sister, pointing out how sexist that attitude is. Ty ends up doing a U-turn, but it's clear Ross won't be happy about it."
Feeling the girls have too much influence over his son's life, Ross decides to help Ty out with his attitude to marriage and fatherhood. The pair are in the pub when Fiz texts Tyrone asking him to pick up popcorn for the movie night they are due to have that evening.
Ross tells him to ignore the text, and knowing Ty will struggle, takes the phone from him and pockets it before ordering another pint.

"Ross clearly thinks Fiz needs to be kept in her place," warns our source. "So he's gleeful when he sends Tyrone home drunk, feeling it's a man's right to have a few pints of an evening. Fiz doesn't agree, though, and sends Tyrone off to bed with a flea in his ear!"
When Ty reveals the next day that Ross pocketed his phone, Fiz is fuming and decides to confront her errant father-in-law. But how will Ross react to Fiz standing up to him – and is she putting herself in the firing line if Ross decides to deliver another round of tough love?
Coronation Street airs on weeknights at 8.30pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
