Thai food vendor sparks outrage after using knife to clean toenails

Translate

A Thai food vendor has sparked widespread criticism on social media after a video appeared to show her using a knife to clean her toenails at a food stall, raising concerns over food hygiene.

The footage was shared online by a Russian tourist, who sarcastically questioned whether anyone would still want food prepared with the same knife.

“Anyone want some fruit cut up? The knife is free now, if anyone needs it,” the tourist wrote.

The tourist also added a tongue-in-cheek comment in Russian: “God bless Thailand and its variety of dishes.”

The post quickly went viral, attracting more than 800,000 views and prompting widespread criticism from social media users.

Many commenters expressed disgust at the vendor’s behaviour, while others asked for the location of the stall, saying they wanted to avoid buying food there.

The location of the stall has not been confirmed, and it remains unclear whether the knife was subsequently used to prepare food for customers.
