‘House Of Guerrero’ Film From Gina Rodriguez Adds 7 To Cast

EXCLUSIVE: The growing cast of Gina Rodriguez’s feature film directorial debut, The House of Guerrero, will now also include Lisa Vidal (Righteous Thieves, The Baker and the Beauty), Aaron Dominguez (Gossip Girl, Sitting in Bars With Cake), Jesse Garcia (The Odyssey, Flamin’ Hot), Edwin Hodge (Matlock, Tomorrow War), Emilio Rivera (Mayans M.C., On My Block), Adam Rodriguez (Criminal Minds: Evolution, CSI: Miami), and Javon Walton (Euphoria, Utopia).

Production on House of Guerrero is underway in Los Angeles and California’s Imperial Valley. The previously announced cast is led by Carlos Sanson Jr., alongside Rosario Dawson, George Lopez, and Gina Rodriguez.

The original story by Gina Rodriguez and Bernardo Cubría follows Alex Guerrero (Sanson), whose promising boxing career is cut short before he gets one last shot at stepping back into the ring with his embattled ex-fighter father Alejandro (Lopez) in his corner. Struggling with the grief and loss of his mother, Elsa (Dawson), Alex turns to his older sister, Paloma (Rodriguez), a gifted boxer herself, to become his new trainer and help him rediscover the fighter he once was.

Dominguez as Perico, one of Alex’s friends in El Centro.

Garcia as Diego, Alex’s therapist.

Hodge as Malcolm, Manager of Club Crave.

Rivera as Tio Turi, Alex’s uncle and husband of Tia Lupe.

Adam Rodriguez as Ruben Chapa, a trainer at the local El Centro boxing gym.

Walton as Alex in his earlier years.

House of Guerrero is produced by Scott Budnick and Ameet Shukla from 1Community, Gina Rodriguez’s I Can And I Will Productions with Molly Breeskin, and Justin Baldoni and Calof from Wayfarer. Steve Sarowitz and Jamey Heath are executive producing for Wayfarer, with Sherrese Clarke and Niija Kuykendall from HarbourView Media Group, alongside Clare LoCicero and Alice S. Kim.

Wayfarer Studios, 1Community, HarbourView Media Group and LoCicero are co-financing the feature with tax credit financing provided by Three Point Capital. UTA Independent Film Group is representing the film for worldwide sales. Casting is by Mary Vernieu and Lindsay Graham Ahanonu. Cast deals were negotiated by Eric W. Thompson.
