The Celebrity Traitors' Joe Lycett and Slow Horses star confirmed for "singular" project

Translate

Celebrity Traitors star Joe Lycett and Slow Horses actor Olivia Cooke are among the names taking part in the 15th anniversary of experimental play White Rabbit Red Rabbit in London's West End. The play is running at the Duchess Theatre with performances every Monday until 14 December.

White Rabbit Red Rabbit was written by Iranian playwright Nassim Soleimanpour and was first performed in 2011. It has since gone on to be translated into more than 30 languages and performed over 3,000 times.

The unique premise sees a different performer take to the stage each night where they are presented with a sealed envelope containing a script. They have never seen the script before and will then have to perform it with no rehearsal and no director.

The show's press release promises a "singular, unrepeatable experience shaped entirely by how that performer embraces the unknown".

The play was written by Soleimanpour during the time he was forbidden to leave Iran. It has been described as "at once playful, poignant, and unsettling" as the play seeks to ask questions about "obedience, choice, and freedom of expression".

Alongside Lycett and Cooke, other upcoming performers in the show's anniversary run announced so far are actor Riz Ahmed, comedian Nish Kumar, and Game of Thrones star John Bradley.
