Polisas to cooperate in probe into student allegedly strangled to death

KUANTAN: The Polytechnic and Community College Education Department will give its cooperation to police investigating the death of a student at Jalan Air Putih yesterday.
Expressing its condolences over the incident, the department said M. Elisa Jonova, 19, a diploma student at Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Polytechnic (Polisas), was found unconscious yesterday.
"The case is currently under investigation by the authorities. The department and Polisas will give full cooperation to assist in the investigation and leave it to the authorities to conduct a thorough probe.
"We urge all quarters not to speculate or disseminate unverified information and to respect the privacy of the deceased's family during this difficult time," it said in a statement.
The statement said the department and Polisas would continue to provide the necessary support and assistance to the deceased's family.
Yesterday, it was reported that a female student was found dead at about 4.30am, believed to have been strangled following an argument with her boyfriend, inside a house.
The 19-year-old suspect, who contacted police after the incident, has been remanded until Oct 12 to assist in the murder investigation.
Meanwhile, Polisas expressed its sorrow and condolences to the victim's family in a Facebook post, which also included a photograph of the victim.
