Indonesia's Mandalika MotoGP 2026 boosts sales for 114 local MSMEs

Central Lombok, NTB (ANTARA) - Micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) participating in the Lombok Sumbawa Festival at the Mandalika International Street Circuit have reported a significant increase in sales during the 2026 Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia.
Local food and handicraft vendors attributed the boost to strong spectator turnout throughout the race weekend, held in Mandalika, Central Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), from October 9 to 11.
“Praise be to God, our food has been selling out quickly over the first two days of the event,” food vendor Baiq Rohayani said on Sunday.
Rohayani said she sold hundreds of meal packages daily, including rice boxes and cerorot, a traditional Lombok delicacy made from rice flour, coconut milk, and palm sugar and steamed in cone-shaped palm leaves.
“Visitors have bought nearly everything we brought,” she said, adding that she had deliberately kept her prices affordable. Three pieces of cerorot sold for Rp10,000 (around US$0.56), while meal boxes were priced at Rp30,000 (US$1.68).
“Our daily revenue has exceeded Rp2.5 million (US$139.70), significantly more than we typically earn outside the venue,” Rohayani added.
She also praised the West Nusa Tenggara provincial government and state-owned tourism developer InJourney Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC) for placing vendor stalls behind the spectator stands, helping ensure a steady flow of customers.
Handicraft vendors reported a similar increase in sales. Komeng, a local artisan selling Lombok's renowned pearl jewelry, said demand was strong among both domestic and international tourists.
“We are grateful that sales have increased this year,” he said, citing pearl bracelets, brooches, loose pearls, and traditional handwoven textiles, known as kain tenun, among the event's best-selling products.
Prices at his stall ranged from Rp100,000 (US$5.60) to more than Rp500,000 (US$27.94), depending on the pearls' grade and quality.
“We appreciate the government's support for small businesses and hope the final race day draws even larger crowds,” Komeng said.
The NTB provincial government facilitated the selection and participation of 114 local MSMEs, allowing them to showcase their products within the circuit grounds.
Wirawan Ahmad, head of the NTB Cooperatives and SMEs Office, said food and beverage vendors accounted for more than 70 percent of the participating businesses.
He added that the businesses came from across the province and represented various trade organizations, including the Indonesian Women Entrepreneurs Association (IWAPI) and the Regional Handicraft Council (Dekranasda). All participating vendors underwent product selection and hygiene training before the event.
Ahmad expressed optimism that total sales generated by this year's MSME activities would exceed the figures recorded in 2025, supported by rising ticket sales.
