Sultan Sharafuddin opens new polo, equestrian hub in Cyberjaya

CYBERJAYA: The Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, today opened the Royal Selangor Polo and Equestrian Club (RSPEC) here.

Sultan Sharafuddin and the Tengku Permaisuri of Selangor, Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin, arrived at 9.40am and were received by RSPEC president Datuk Syed Budriz Putra Jamalullail.

The event was held in conjunction with the Silver Jubilee celebration of the Sultan of Selangor's reign.

In a statement, RSPEC said the royal presence underscored the club's position as a premier sporting destination combining equestrian heritage with recreational facilities, while opening new opportunities for sports tourism in Selangor.

"RSPEC was developed with a clear vision to elevate polo and equestrian sports, while creating a sporting destination accessible to the community," it said.

Sultan Sharafuddin and Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin toured the premises and were briefed on the polo and equestrian facilities at the club.

The complex features a polo field surrounded by a one-kilometre sand track, 136 horse stalls, as well as indoor and outdoor arenas.

Designed to meet stringent international standards, the facilities strengthen Selangor's capacity to host prestigious tournaments at regional and domestic levels.
