Abate important Torino injury updates for Roma clash

Torino coach Ignazio Abate gives important injury updates ahead of Monday’s match with Roma for Che Adams and Giovanni Simeone. ‘We could play without a centre-forward.’
It kicks off at the Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino in Turin on Monday at 17.30 UK time (18.30 CEST).
The Granata had started the campaign in dismal form, crashing out of the Coppa Italia at home to Monza, losing the first two Serie A games to Milan and Sassuolo.
They finally got off the mark with a 2-1 victory away to Fiorentina in crisis, but next up host on-form Roma.
Abate has reduced Torino alternatives
“Tomorrow will be an important test for us,” said Abate in his press conference.
“Saul Coco has recovered, but we lose Adams to an adductor issue. Simeone is also in doubt, as there is a problem with his back. We’ll evaluate Simeone’s condition, but alternatively we’ll just have to make do.
“Duvan Zapata’s knee is responding positively, we do have two more strikers in the squad, but we could play without a centre-forward too.”
When it comes to changing the tactical system to suit the players at his disposal, Abate is open to a versatile Torino.
“As far as I am concerned, we attack with 10 and defend with 10. Daniel Braganca can play as a mezz’ala or dictate the tempo in midfield, it is up to me to make sure he can co-exist with the others. He can play along with Rolando Mandragora and Kian Fitz-Jim.”
There is also still no sign of Cesare Casadei, Pietro Pellegri or goalkeeper Franco Israel in the Torino squad.
Alessio Cacciamani will be eager to show what he can do and celebrate signing a new contract to June 2031.
