March and March movement member Wandile Nsibande has been granted R1 000 bail by Durban Magistrate Sicelo Zuma, despite the State opposing his release on public safety grounds, his previous conviction, and alleged breaches of parole conditions.

The charges against Nsibande relate to alleged incitement to commit public violence, public violence and other offences linked to an anti-immigrant protest orchestrated by the March and March movement in the Durban CBD.

Nsibande is expected back in court on 26 November, alongside co-accused Sphelele Shinga and Malizo Dzanibe, as the case was postponed for further investigation.

In delivering his decision, Zuma said the court could not determine at this stage whether Nsibande had breached his parole conditions.
