Frozen 3 confirms first story details – including love interest for Olaf

Disney has released the first story details for Frozen 3 – which has been confirmed to release on 14 November 2027.

The reveals were made at the D23 Expo in Anaheim, California, where stars Kristen Bell, Idina Menzel and Josh Gad all took to the stage and also unveiled a teaser trailer for the hotly anticipated animated threequel.

"Kristen and I are so excited to be back to give you a sneak peek at what we have in store for Frozen 3," Menzel told the audience after she and Bell had sung a new version of the song Frozen Heart.

Menzel added: "Anna and Elsa are going on their biggest journey yet. Twists and turns and danger and tears and challenges and strife... or as Anna would call it, a honeymoon!"

Bell then confirmed that Anna and Kristoff would be getting married, before revealing that they weren't the only two characters who would be feeling romance in the film.

At that point, Gad arrived on the stage and performed a new love song for Olaf’s first crush, titled "Ooooh, Samantha" before the trio introduced the trailer by providing some context for the new film.

"We will find ourselves far from Arendelle in a frozen land more wild and dangerous than anything Elsa has ever created," Menzel explained.

In the trailer, attendees got a very brief look at the film's new villain – who seems to have very similar powers to Elsa – but further details are still being kept under wraps for now (and the trailer has not yet been released online.)

"We can't say yet," Bell said when Gad jokingly asked for more details about the villain. "And we also cannot wait to share the rest of our story with you all next year."

The first Frozen film became a major sensation when it was released back in 2013, while the sequel following in 2019 – with both films having crossed the $1 billion mark at the global box office.

We can expect another smash hit in November 2027...
