'Spider-Man' star Tobey Maguire and his estranged wife Jennifer Meyer are reportedly one step closer to officially ending their marriage. After a years-long wait, the estranged couple have reportedly reached a settlement.According to court documents obtained by TMZ, Maguire and Meyer have reached an agreement to dissolve their marriage and restore their legal status as 'single' people. The agreement still requires a judge’s approval before it becomes final.

The couple have not yet reached a comprehensive settlement covering their assets and other outstanding matters. However, the latest filing marks a significant step towards finalising their divorce.As part of the agreement, Maguire and Meyer have also reportedly agreed to appoint a private judge to handle any disputes that may arise as they work through the remaining issues in their case.

Tobey Maguire seeks joint custody of son

In 2025, Maguire asked the court for joint legal and physical custody of the couple’s 16-year-old son, Otis. The actor also requested that the former couple enter private mediation to address matters including child support and spousal support.

Their filing noted that Maguire and Meyer have a prenuptial agreement.The couple also share an 18-year-old daughter, Ruby. Since she is legally an adult, custody-related matters concerning her do not form part of the proceedings.

Maguire and Meyer announced their separation in 2016 after nearly a decade of marriage. TMZ first reported that Meyer filed for divorce in October 2020, bringing their relationship into formal legal proceedings.
