Mohanlal says 'Thenmavin Kombathu' is his favourite Priyadarshan film; Manikyan-Karthumbi return.

Mollywood superstar Mohanlal has described 'Thenmavin Kombathu' as his favourite film among his collaborations with filmmaker Priyadarshan. The 1994 Malayalam classic is set to return to theatres on October 8 in a digitally restored 4K version.Ahead of the re-release, Mohanlal looked back at the film and its lasting connection with audiences. In a video shared officially by the film's distributors, the actor said the film holds a special place among the movies he made with Priyadarshan. He also spoke about returning to the big screen as Manikyan after more than three decades.

Mohanlal recalls his favourite Priyadarshan film

'Thenmavin Kombathu' marked one of the most popular collaborations between Mohanlal and Priyadarshan.Speaking about the movie, Mohanlal said, "Of all the films that I had done with Priyan, 'Thenmavin Kombathu' is my favourite."The actor also addressed those who have continued to remember the film's characters and memorable moments. He said, "For those who loved Manikyan and Karthumbi, 'Thenmavin Kombathu' is re-releasing after a long gap of 32 years. With its stunning visuals, memorable songs and several hilarious moments, the film continues to entertain audiences.

The film is re-releasing on October 8."

Manikyan and Karthumbi return to theatres

Mohanlal played Manikyan in the film, while Shobana portrayed Karthumbi. Nedumudi Venu appeared as Sreekrishnan Thampuran and had a negative shade towards the end.The story's rural backdrop, romantic track and comic situations helped 'Thenmavin Kombathu' establish a strong connection with Malayalam audiences.According to the online portal Reporter, the restoration team used the original 35mm negative as the source for the new version. The negative was scanned in 4K before being digitally restored to Super 4K quality. The process has been carried out while preserving the original visual treatment of the film. Cinematographer K.V. Anand cranked the visuals of this classic film.

Priyadarshan directed the 1994 classic

'Thenmavin Kombathu' was written and directed by Priyadarshan. The supporting cast included Sreenivasan, Kaviyoor Ponnamma, K.P.A.C. Lalitha, Sukumari, Kuthiravattam Pappu, Sankaradi, Geetha Vijayan and Sonia.
