Coronation Street's Roy and Nina reunited after emotional soap exit

Coronation Street star Mollie Gallagher was reunited with her on-screen uncle as she treads the boards in her latest role. The actress joined the ITV soap in 2019 as Roy Cropper's long-lost niece, Nina Lucas, who eventually moved in with the beloved character.
Gallagher announced her departure from the soap after seven years back in August so she could join the cast of the stage adaptation of the iconic horror novel and film The Silence of the Lambs.
Sharing a series of photos to say goodbye to October on Instagram, she posted a snap alongside David Neilson, who has played her on-screen uncle Roy since 1995.

They posed in front of the poster for The Silence of the Lambs at The Lowry Theatre in Manchester, in which Gallagher currently stars as FBI trainee Clarice Starling.
She also shared a heart-warming snap alongside a bevvy of her Corrie co-stars, including Debbie Webster actor Sue Devaney and George Shuttleworth star Tony Maudsley.
In the caption, she wrote: "Goodbye October 🖤 BUT what a special time performing @the_lowry earlier this month! (Very few photos because I really was living in the moment) Having all my family and friends coming to watch really was the best- a week I’ll never forget.
"(Obviously me, mum, dad and dan forgot to take a photo as usual lol) Salford girl on home turf 🖤."
Speaking to Digital Spy earlier this year, Gallagher reflected on how much it had meant to her to appear on the soap for so long, and why it was time to say goodbye.

"It was a tricky one because I love Corrie so much. I love everyone there, and I love Nina, too. When I graduated from drama school and got the audition for Corrie, I thought that Nina was a dream character for me to play.
"I was really passionate about portraying this alternative character. We kept her quite similar the whole time, which was important to me. I never wanted Nina to lose her goth look and who she is – I think the audience have always really appreciated that.
"So it was a really hard situation, but as an actor, you do want to challenge yourself by trying new things. This new job is completely different because it's theatre. It was sad – in an ideal world I'd be doing both, but that just wouldn't work!"
Coronation Street airs on weeknights at 8.30pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
