  • Amazon (AMZN) CEO Andy Jassy on Thursday said Prime Video has become a major growth driver, generating annualised revenue in the 'tens of billions of dollars' and turning profitable, backed by popular original shows, blockbuster films, and an expanding portfolio of live sports rights.
  • "We have momentum with hit shows like Carrie, The Summer I Turned Pretty, The Boys, Off Campus, Reacher, and Fallout. And breakout movies like Project Hail Mary, along with compelling live sports, including Thursday Night Football off to its best start ever in 2026, NBA on Prime, NASCAR, The Masters, and UEFA Champions League soccer," Jassy said on the quarterly earnings call.
  • The success of blockbuster hits like Project Hail Mary and Verity is only part of the story, Amazon's CEO said. However, the $2.75T company's shares fell sharply in after-hours trading following its third-quarter earnings release. He had previously told investors in May that Prime Video was profitable.
  • Jassy added the company had recently launched its most powerful devices lineup to date, introducing 34 new products across Echo, Kindle, Alexa Tablets, Fire TV, Ring, and Bee. "It's early, but we're off to a very strong start and excited for more customers to get their hands on these as we head into the holidays," Jassy said. He also noted that Amazon Leo remains on track to begin its initial service later this year.
