Academy Award-winning actress Hilary Swank is pregnant with her third child.

The two-time Oscar winner, 52, is expecting the baby with her husband, businessman Philip Schneider.

Ms Swank revealed her new baby is due in December and will be a younger sibling to the couple’s three-year-old twins, a son and a daughter.

The actress shared a neon stick animation of her family which showed her with a pregnant belly alongside her announcement on Instagram.

“A lot of people have been asking what project I’m doing next, this one releases in December,” Ms Swank captioned the post.

Ms Swank and Mr Schneider married in 2018 after two years of dating.

She was previously married to actor Chad Lowe for nine years until 2006 and engaged to professional tennis player turned financial adviser Ruben Torres, but they split in 2016.

The actress has won two Academy Awards for best actress; her first was in 2000 for Boys Don’t Cry, followed by her 2005 nod for the Clint Eastwood film Million Dollar Baby
