In an interview with FRANCE 24 on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York, South African Foreign Minister Ronald Lamola said Washington's plan to take in up to 17,500 more White South Africans was "a race-based policy", dismissing the "so-called genocide" of Afrikaners as "fake news".
However, Pretoria will "not interfere" with the US programme, Lamola said.
He also said that South Africa stands by its genocide case against Israel at the International Court of Justice over the war in Gaza, despite pressure from the Trump administration to drop the case.
Finally, Lamola rejected Nigeria's accusations over recent anti-foreigner violence in South Africa as "a very unfortunate characterisation", saying the attacks were "not state sponsored" but the "activities of vigilante groups".
