Coronation Street set to air "devastating" scenes in Sarah Platt murder trial

Coronation Street star Lucy Fallon has teased that there are going to be some absolutely "devastating" scenes when Sarah Platt's trial rolls around.

Sarah faces a long sentence in prison for the murder of evil Theo Silverton, with the fateful court scenes filmed last month.

"It's dramatic. It's quite sneaky. And I would say devastating, also. If Sarah is out or not, I cannot possibly reveal," the actor teased.

Before we even get to the trial date, there's been plenty of drama that's already happened and even more in store.

Kit, who wants to lessen Sarah's sentence by proving Gary Windass' involvement, recently had a one-night stand with Bethany Platt.

After his cancer diagnosis, he is throwing himself at the bottle and at random women, which plays into Bethany's plan to get Sarah to move on from her other half.

"I think [the one-night stand] was definitely a big fat mistake, she's feeling incredibly guilty. That's going to continue for quite a while," Fallon said.

"Bethany thinks Sarah is handling things a bit too well and it's a bit weird, she's acting strange. She's worried about her," the actor continued, although added that Bethany's concern is also about clearing her own conscience.

"The ideal situation for Bethany is for her mum to sack Kit off, 'I'm over it and concentrate on myself and forget about him because I've got bigger things going on'.

"Because if she does get out and Sarah ends up back with Kit, that's going to make things even worse for Bethany and Kit's situation."

And that's where the sneakiness comes in by the looks of things, but could it really backfire like Fallon has teased?

Coronation Street airs on weeknights at 8.30pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
