Blackout grips Mabalacat City, parts of Magalang town

MABALACAT CITY, Pampanga – Work in government offices and private establishments here and in parts of the municipality of Magalang was disrupted by a power outage on Wednesday.
The Pampanga Electric Cooperative II (Pelco II) announced on its Facebook page that the “unscheduled NGCP (National Grid Corporation of the Philippines) outage started at 11:37 a.m. and may last until 5 p.m. or 6 p.m.
In a subsequent Facebook post, Pelco II said the blackout was caused by a “line clearance-related incident” on the 69kV Mexico-Clark Line 2.

“Please be advised that the power interruption in the affected area is due to a line clearance-related incident. Our technical crew is currently conducting restoration activities,” it said.

The local government here decided to suspend work in the afternoon due to the power outage.
Some netizens also complained that water service by Primewater was also affected by the power outage.
“Combo ang Pelco (II) at Primewater,” a resident commented on Mabalacat City government’s post on the prolonged blackout.
