Prabowo affirms Indonesia's role at 18th BRICS Summit in New Delhi

Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto has affirmed Indonesia's active role in promoting multilateral cooperation and building strategic partnerships amid global dynamics through his participation in the 2026 BRICS Summit in New Delhi, India, on Saturday.

According to the Presidential Secretariat statement here on Saturday, the President's participation at the forum provided an opportunity for Indonesia to convey its national position and interests while contributing to discussions on global governance amid ongoing global challenges.

The 18th BRICS Summit held on September 12-13, 2026, carries the theme "Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation, and Sustainability".

Prabowo joined other BRICS leaders in a limited session titled "Inclusive Global Governance and Strengthening Multilateralism," which discussed various global issues and efforts to build more effective multilateral cooperation.

During the session, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivered opening remarks, stressing India's commitment during its 2026 BRICS chairmanship to place the interests of the people and humanitarian values as the foundation for strengthening resilience, innovation, cooperation, and sustainability.

Indonesia's participation in the BRICS Summit also provided an opportunity for Prabowo to convey Indonesia's stand on various global issues, while strengthening cooperation with BRICS member countries.

Prabowo and other national leaders were also scheduled to visit the "Bharat Innovates" exhibition and the "BRICS @20" exhibition.

The series of activities continued with a group photo session and a tree-planting activity with participating leaders. The first day of the 18th BRICS Summit in New Delhi was set to close with a gala dinner banquet hosted by PM Modi.

Through Prabowo's participation in the 18th BRICS Summit, Indonesia affirmed its commitment to becoming a force that bridges various interests, strengthens Global South solidarity, and contributes to building a fairer, more resilient, and sustainable world order.
