SINGAPORE, Oct 5 — Tech workers in Singapore earned a median monthly wage of S$8,000 (RM25,550) in 2025, 60 per cent higher than the overall resident median, as the country’s digital economy grew to S$144.1 billion.

The Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) said the digital economy accounted for 19.3 per cent of the republic’s gross domestic product (GDP) in 2025, up from 18.8 per cent a year earlier.

“The steady growth reflects how digital technologies continue to shape enterprises across various industries,” IMDA said in its Singapore Digital Economy (SGDE) Report 2026 released on Monday.

Tech employment grew 3.8 per cent year-on-year to 222,200 in 2025, reflecting expansion in both the Information and Communications (I&C) and non-I&C sectors, which grew 6.1 per cent to S$47.1 billion and 3.6 per cent to S$97 billion, respectively.

“Tech jobs also continue to offer strong wage outcomes, with the median monthly wage for resident tech workers at S$8,000 in 2025, 60 per cent higher than the overall resident median of S$5,000,” IMDA said.

IMDA said the adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) among small and medium enterprises (SMEs) increased from 14.5 per cent to 23.4 per cent in 2025, while adoption among large local enterprises rose from 62.5 per cent to 70.4 per cent.

IMDA chief executive Ng Cher Pong said Singapore’s digital economy continued to demonstrate encouraging growth as both enterprises and workers embraced new solutions in their digital transformation journeys. — Bernama
