Unilever eyes €1B in savings as post-spin-off restructuring gathers pace

Mesut Dogan
Unilever (UL) is targeting €1B in cost savings by the end of 2029 through organizational restructuring, process improvements, and technology initiatives as it reshapes its business following the spin-off of its food operations.
The company will introduce a new operating model in 2027, organizing markets into six regional performance units and streamlining reporting across three categories: Beauty & Personal Care, Home Care and Other.
The restructuring will also address stranded costs related to the planned $66B combination of its food business with McCormick (MKC), expected to close by mid-2027.
The company said it remains committed to its medium-term targets of 4%-6% annual underlying sales growth, at least 2% underlying volume growth and modest improvement in underlying operating margin.
