Expanding on her podcast that explored communication and consciousness among nonspeaking individuals, Dickens directed and produced the film that will be available for streaming via Prime Video on Feb. 24, 2027.

The movie centers on the families who were introduced to listeners of the podcast, along with incorporating new voices and previously untold stories. Delving deeper into the podcast’s concept that consciousness may extend beyond the brain, the Telepathy Tapes film explores the profound abilities of nonspeakers with autism. The movie details Dickens’ conversations with scientists and researchers to better understand this phenomenon, with the film also featuring scientific experiments and unexpected demonstrations.

Dickens produced The Telepathy Tapes alongside Nicole Danielle and Jess Zaino. Eugene Jhong executive produces, along with Geralyn White Dreyfous, Lyn Davis Lear, Regina K. Grossman, Adam Lewis, Lighten, Emma Marciano, Blake Mycoskie, John and Mo KC Pritzker, and Ike and Lara Zekaria.

The Telepathy Tapes podcast debuted in September 2024 and explored the notion that nonspeaking individuals communicate telepathically with those around them. It won a Webby Award and landed a nomination for iHeartRadio podcast of the year, and by 2025, it had been named top series, most shared show and top episode on Apple’s podcast charts. It spawned two follow-up seasons, The Consciousness Cassettes and The Reincarnation Records.
