Top 10 best performing Italy players in Serie A Week 5: Frosinone steal the show

Frosinone goalkeeper Lorenzo Palmisani was rated as the best-performing Italy player during the most recent round of Serie A fixtures, but the 22-year-old is not part of Roberto Mancini’s national team squad for the upcoming September-October international break. 

All 20 Serie A sides were in action over the weekend, the fifth round of 2026-27 Serie A fixtures. Roma, Inter and Lazio remain unbeaten and level on 13 points at the top of the table, followed closely by the high-flying Cagliari on 12 points, Milan on 11 and Frosinone, Juventus and Como on 10. 

One of the most eye-catching results of the weekend was Frosinone’s 2-0 victory over Champions League outfit Como. 22-year-old goalkeeper Palmisani earned particular praise for his heroics between the sticks, keeping a clean sheet despite several one-on-one attempts from Moise Kean and Nico Paz on the night. 

Sky Sport Italia gave the young stopper a rating of 8.5/10, but he still has work to do before earning his first call-up to the senior Italy national team, with Gianluigi Donnarumma, Marco Carnesecchi, Guglielmo Vicario and Massimo Pessina currently above him in the pecking order. 

Frosinone defender Ilario Monterisi is also included in this week’s top 10 performing Italy players after his performance in the 2-0 win over Como. 

Federico Bernardeschi, who scored the opening goal in Bologna’s 1-1 draw with Torino, was given a rating of 7.5/10. The same rating was also given to Cagliari goalkeeper Elia Caprile after keeping a clean sheet in a 1-0 win away against Udinese.

Of this week’s top 10, five were included in Mancini’s Italy squad for the September-October international break: Nicolo Cambiaghi, Bryan Cristante, Mattia Zaccagni, Daniel Maldini and Nicolo Fagioli. Cristante has since withdrawn from the Italy squad and has been replaced by Samuele Ricci.
