There have been no untoward incidents or complaints so far amid the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao’s (BARMM) first parliamentary elections on September 14, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) said Friday.

“Sa kasalukuyan, wala pong untoward incidents na nangyayari po dito sa Bangsamoro,” Comelec chairperson George Erwin Garcia said on Balitanghali.

(At present, there are no untoward incidents happening here in Bangsamoro.)

According to Garcia, there had been only one recorded election-related incident since May while only three firearms have been confiscated out of 23,000 checkpoints in the region.

(That is extraordinary because it is not usually like this. In this area before, during times like this, there would already be many incidents, a lot of violence, and of course, many firearms would also be confiscated.)

Meanwhile, Garcia said the poll body has also yet to receive any complaints or petitions seeking to disqualify candidates.

He said Comelec personnel are currently verifying the ballots.

At the same time, inaalam din kung may mga naligaw na ibang balota,” he said.

(We are determining whether the ballots were specifically intended for that municipality. At the same time, we are also determining whether any other ballots ended up there by mistake.)

(So far, everything we have distributed has been 100% in order. The deployment of PNP personnel, as well as AFP personnel, is still ongoing, and we are adding more in other areas.)
