Witness: Zaldy Co’s alleged kickbacks have acknowledgment receipts

MANILA, Philippines — The alleged kickbacks delivered to former Ako Bicol party-list Rep. Zaldy Co from former Public Works engineer Henry Alcantara have acknowledgment receipts (AR), a witness told the Sandiganbayan Third Division on Thursday.
Wirt Walter Rosales, personal assistant of Alcantara, made this revelation when he testified before the anti-graft court during the bail hearing of former Speaker Martin Romualdez, who faces a plunder case stemming from alleged kickbacks from infrastructure projects worth P7.44 billion.
Co, the former House appropriations committee chairperson during the speakership of Romualdez, was a co-accused in the case.

“It was stated there the amount of our deliveries,” Rosales said of the AR.
Rosales said the AR was either received by supposed Co’s executive assistants John Paul Estrada and Mark Ticsay, and he said the latter signed the AR more often.
According to the witness, the biggest single amount indicated in AR was at P300 million, and his total deliveries made to Co reached more than a billion pesos. /jpv
