Emmerdale's Kim reveals the identity of Thea's father as mystery is solved

Emmerdale’s Kim Tate reveals the identity of Thea Ramsden’s father next week, as a huge mystery is finally solved – and it’s a character who is known to long-time viewers.
In this week’s episodes, it was confirmed that Baby Tate (now officially named William) was kidnapped by his dad Joe. Kim realised that Thea wasn’t the culprit, but only after a tense confrontation where she accidentally stabbed the detective.

After Thea was rushed to hospital, Kim found her ID and was stunned to discover that her full name was Anthea – and that she is her daughter.
Once awake, Thea explained to Kim that she wanted to take revenge on her after being put up for adoption as a baby, and she rejected Kim’s attempt to apologise for what happened.
But as Kim spoke openly about the impossible situation she was in all those years ago, Thea saw a different side to her birth mum and began to soften towards her.
While Kim feared Thea would tell the police about the stabbing, Thea ultimately chose to lie when she made a statement, claiming that it was poachers who stabbed her and Kim saved her life.
In next week’s episodes, Thea is forced to concede that Kim isn’t what she imagined her to be, with her plan to take down her estranged birth mum seeming to be officially shelved.

However, when Kim thanks Thea for lying to the police for her, Thea makes it very clear to her mum that she is still a long way from forgiving her for the past.
Having reunited with her mum, Thea begins probing Kim about the identity of her father, so Kim reveals that her dad is a man called Steve Marchant.
Played by Paul Opacic between 1996 and 1999, viewers might remember that Steve was Kim’s second husband. He was sentenced to 10 years in prison after Kim framed him for a money-making scam – but it is entirely possible that Kim was pregnant with his child at the time.
As another secret from the past comes to light, Thea and Kim start to properly bond, but Thea insists that it will take a long time for them to build a relationship. Will this mark a new chapter for Kim and Thea?
Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 8pm on ITV1, and streams on ITVX.
