The first night of Head Trip 2026, a one-time-only dance music festival on the Coachella grounds in Indio, Calif., has ended early due to weather.

At 9 p.m. PT on Saturday (Oct. 10), a set by Under Construction (the duo made up of Fisher and Chris Lake) was cut off by an announcement saying, “Attention, in the festival, this is a lightning alert. The show is suspended due to lightning. Exit the venue the way you entered or seek shelter in personal vehicles or shuttle.”

Within a half hour, attendees were informed that the show would not be continuing on night one, with the festival app being updated to say “Tonight’s show has ended. Due to continued lightning in the area, tonight’s show will not resume. Please exit safely the way you entered. We’ll share updates soon.”

Campers were later advised to continue to shelter in their vehicles until further notice as a weather system containing lightning moved into the Coachella Valley region, as tropical storm Rachel hit the coast of Southern California.

The night’s headliner Calvin Harris, who was due to take the stage at 9:30 p.m. PT following the performance by Under Construction, which followed a b2b set by Peggy Gou and Four Tet and another b2b from Seth Troxler and Ben Sterling.

Rain is currently predicted to fall in Indio and the wider region through Sunday morning. Day two of Head Trip is scheduled to begin in the early afternoon and into the night with sets from DJ Harvey, The Blessed Madonna, Dom Dolla b2b Kettama, Skrillex and Swedish House Mafia.

Head Trip is a one-time-only festival by Goldenvoice, which follows the template of the 2023 metal-focused Power Trip and the 2016 classic rock fest Desert Trip.
