Tiger Shroff firing case: Mumbai Police invoke MCOCA against all accused; say attack was meant to extort money and spread fear

The Mumbai Police have invoked the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) against all the accused arrested in the firing incident involving actor Tiger Shroff. The move came on Tuesday, October 27, as investigators pointed to an organised crime background behind the attack.

Which MCOCA sections have been added

According to an official statement, MCOCA, 1999, has been applied in DCB CID CR No. 143/26, which was registered on 19/10/26 under Sections 109(1) and 3(5) of the BNS, read with Sections 3 and 25 of the Arms Act. As per the IANS report, the permission of the competent authority under Section 23(1)(a) of the Act was given on 27/10/26. Sections 3(1)(ii), 3(2) and 3(4) of MCOCA have now been added against all the accused.

How the case has moved so far

The Mumbai Police first registered a case on October 19 under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Arms Act.

Approval to use MCOCA followed on October 27. Police said the probe has been sped up, considering the organised crime background linked to the case. Further investigation is still on.

Alleged motive and gang links

Earlier, the Mumbai Crime Branch had stated the alleged motive behind the firing. It said the attack was carried out to extort money, establish the gang’s dominance and create fear among the public.Investigators have alleged that the accused have links to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. Police claim the gang targeted Tiger as part of an effort to strengthen its influence, scare people and earn money through extortion. The accused were allegedly working as active members of an organised crime syndicate.

Planned conspiracy across states

Investigators believe the attack was not a one-off act. They describe it as part of a planned criminal conspiracy meant to bring financial gains, assert the gang’s dominance and spread terror in society. The accused allegedly used illegal and lethal weapons as part of this pre-planned plot against the star. The probe has also found that the alleged conspiracy was coordinated through an interstate network spread across several locations, including Delhi and Mumbai.
