There's no doubt that Pokémon is going through a bit of a golden moment right now with the 30th anniversary being celebrated across the world by millions of fans. Much of the excitement around that comes thanks to the TCG, which is releasing a special set to mark the occasion featuring some genuinely exciting chase cards for long-time collectors.

With all of that going on, it can be easy to forget that the video game portion of the franchise is actually going through a little bit of a lull right now as we await more details on the first games of the 10th generation, Winds and Waves. While we sit tight for more on that, there is plenty going on still with the most recent entry in the series and Nintendo have actually just confirmed a new release that puts all the content into one convenient package.

As first confirmed by Serebii over on Twitter/X, Nintendo are set to release a hard copy of Pokémon Legends Z-A, alongside the Mega Dimension DLC, all in one case. Given that Nintendo has been one of the frontrunners for digitizing most of their games, even if they do provide players with access to a plastic box, it's nice to see that there are still some games getting the physical treatment.

This latest version of the game will be available for purchase in the US, Europe & Japan from major retailers, and owners of the original Switch will be able to get in on the party as well, as confirmed in an official statement:

"This Nintendo Switch 2 release includes both Pokémon Legends: Z-A – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition and the Mega Dimension DLC on one game card. If you have Nintendo Switch, the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition is also playable on that system. When playing the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition on the Nintendo Switch system, though, the content will be the same as that of the Nintendo Switch software. Additional features and content that utilize the Nintendo Switch 2 system’s specs will not be included."

There's no word yet on whether this release comes as a result of the anti-digital sentiment that seems to be everywhere right now for understandable reasons, but even if it is coincidental, it can absolutely be seen as a win for those who still prize their physical collections above all else.

This latest Pokémon Legends: Z-A release is set to debut on October 29, so you don't have too long to wait if it does sound tempting. This will probably serve as the best way to buy the game from here on out if you're yet to play it, and it remains a solid entry that's well worth exploring if you're already a fan.
