The Ocarina of Time Remake is finally set to launch next month, after years of rumors and speculation that Nintendo were cooking it up behind the scenes. The initial reveal trailer was very brief indeed, and didn't really give us much information about the developer's plans for the game, beyond the fact that it looks better and also starts with Young Link asleep in bed.
Since then, we haven't heard too much about the game, until the last few weeks, when more information has begun to emerge about its direction. That includes a brand-new trailer with a lot more on the gameplay front, and news of the first redeemable DLC for the release, which comes with its own physical products that the franchise has arguably become very well-known for.
In case you missed it, Nintendo confirmed that the Ocarina of Time Remake is coming with two brand-new amiibos of Young Link and Young Zelda. Rendered as clean, crisp takes on their outfits and appearance in the original game, they are two of the best looking amiibos we have seen in recent years.
Scanning them into your game when you get your hands on it will also unlock polygonal masks of the two characters for you to wear as you go about your adventures. It brings a little of the nostalgia of the 1998 release into this latest version, and that should be popular with the older generation of fans who will inevitably be playing.
At the same time, Nintendo also confirmed in their most recent trailer that all of their existing roster of amiibos that are tied to the franchise will be usable in the game. While they didn't detail exactly what that will entail, we do know that at least some of them will deliver helpful items, as the trailer showed a drop of healing hearts, Green Potions, and a Deku Stick.
It will likely be the case that a few of the amiibos will come with specific rewards tied to them in time, but the details of those will likely emerge after the game's initial release. In even better news, fans can also grab a physical edition of the game, pushing back against the move from major gaming companies to lean even further into the digital.
As mentioned previously, we don't have long to wait at all to finally play The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time once again. The game is set to release on November 5 as a Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive, which does leave those who didn't upgrade out in the cold somewhat, an unfortunate inevitability given just how much more power the sequel console offers.
