MELAKA, Oct 11 — All educational institutions under the Ministry of Education in Melaka will reopen tomorrow (October 12) after the Air Pollutant Index (API) recorded moderate readings below 100.

State Education, Higher Education and Religious Affairs Committee chairman Datuk Rahmad Mariman said the decision took into account the latest air quality developments and prioritised the education, safety and well-being of students, teachers and all members of educational institutions.

“Accordingly, administrators of educational institutions are urged to take appropriate measures to ensure the smooth operation of their respective institutions and to comply with current directives and guidelines set by the Ministry of Education and relevant authorities.

“Parents and guardians are also advised to continue monitoring their children’s health and to seek treatment if they experience symptoms related to air pollution,” he said in a statement here today.

He said any changes to operating directives would be communicated through the official channels of the Melaka State Education Department (JPN).

JPN Melaka expressed its appreciation for the concern shown by all parties in ensuring the continuity of education and safeguarding the entire educational community in Melaka.

Based on data from the Malaysian Air Pollutant Index Management System (APIMS), Melaka recorded moderate API readings as of 2 pm today: Alor Gajah (91), Bukit Rambai (94) and Bandaraya Melaka (96). — Bernama
