SIBU, Nov 7 — Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Vice President Datuk Dr Annuar Rapaee has defended the Sarawak government’s inclusive policy of providing educational opportunities to all races, while reminding the Bumiputera community not to be left behind in seizing the opportunities provided.

He said the Bumiputera community should not question the opportunities given to other races, but should instead ensure that their children take advantage of the state government’s educational and development opportunities.

“What we need to worry about is not the opportunities opened to others. What we should worry about is whether our Bumiputera children are seizing those open opportunities.

“Do not worry at all that other communities are given opportunities because in Sarawak, every layer of society will be given opportunities as long as they have the appropriate qualifications,” he said when speaking at the Nangka Youth Friendly Dinner here last night.

The incumbent Nangka state assemblyman said that throughout his 15 years representing the area, he has adhered to the principle that no community should be sidelined from development regardless of their racial background.

Meanwhile, Dr Annuar acknowledged that not all public issues could be resolved throughout his tenure, but stressed that every trust given will continue to be carried out to the best of his ability. — Bernama
