Shriya Saran, seen in ‘Drishyam 3’, has opened up about the warmth she received from the makers of the Hindi franchise, even as the industry talks about making sets friendlier for working mothers.
She revealed that while filming the second part with Ajay Devgn, her daughter was still a baby, and the team let her finish her schedule ahead of the lead actor because she was a new mom. The trilogy's final chapter, ‘Drishyam: The Conclusion’, hit theatres on October 2, 2026, and has already earned over Rs 200 crore in just five days.
Shriya Saran on the warmth she received from the makers
In a conversation with India Today, Shriya reflected on the kindness shown to her during the making of ‘Drishyam 2’ (2022).
With her daughter still a baby at the time, the makers let her head home to her family early, sometimes ahead of the film's lead, Ajay. Recalling the experience, the actress said, "My daughter was eight months old when I did Drishyam 2. And in Part 3, of course, she’s older. But they were very supportive.
After the shoot, they used to send me off earlier, sometimes even before Ajay sir, because they were like, ‘She is a new mother.’
They’re very kind, sweet, and I’m grateful to them."
Other actresses balancing work and motherhood
Several actresses, including Alia Bhatt, Parineeti Chopra, and Deepika Padukone, have kept working both before and after becoming mothers in recent times. Deepika, in particular, has openly spoken about the need for fixed working hours for mothers, a stance that has split opinion among many artistes. She and her husband, Ranveer Singh, welcomed their second daughter on September 8, 2024.
Ajay Devgn's 'Drishyam 3' vs Mohanlal's Malayalam version
In 2026, both the Malayalam and Hindi series saw their third films arrive. Jeethu Joseph directed the Malayalam entry, with Mohanlal in the lead, and it reached theatres in May 2026. Abhishek Pathak's Hindi film is said to wrap up the trilogy. ‘Drishyam: The Conclusion’ tells a different story from the Malayalam version, with Pathak writing it alongside Aamil Keeyan Khan and Parveez Shaikh.
Shriya Saran's co-stars and the 'Drishyam 3' box office
The sixth film's cast list is a reunion of sorts: Ajay Devgn, Tabu, Shriya Saran, Rajat Kapoor, Ishita Dutta, and Mrunal Jadhav are back as their familiar characters, and Jaideep Ahlawat and Prakash Raj make their franchise debut in fresh roles. With a total India haul of Rs 212.50 crore, ‘Drishyam 3’ has climbed to become the fifth-biggest Hindi earner of 2026.
