Celtic 0-1 Rangers: Double Old Firm derby delight for Gers as Celtic Park silenced

Rangers won their second Old Firm derby in eight days as Celtic’s disaster week got far worse on Sunday.

Ryan Naderi’s first-half goal was enough to down another dismal showing for Celtic, who were lucky to avoid a more humbling scoreline.

Celtic made the brighter start and thought they had taken the lead through Auston Trusty, but the effort was ruled out for offside.

Kieran Tierney then went close for the hosts, firing just wide as Celtic looked to make their early pressure count.

Rangers gradually grew into the contest and went ahead in the 33rd minute when Minsu Kim’s shot was parried by Viljami Sinisalo, allowing Naderi to follow up and score from close range.

Celtic pushed for an equaliser after the break, but Rangers defended well and Ivor Pandur made an important save to preserve his side’s lead.

Rangers appeared to have doubled their advantage when Olwethu Makhanya found the net with a fine finish, but the goal was ruled out for handball after a VAR review.

Martin O’Neill made changes in an attempt to revive Celtic, but Rangers remained organised and held on to claim another Old Firm victory, leaving Celtic to reflect on a difficult week.
