With the anime industry being as popular as it is, it is no wonder that video game studios want to cash in on the action. Over the years, we have had our fair share of games based on some of the most iconic anime, but let us face it, the majority of them leave a lot to be desired. However, it seems as though Jujutsu Kaisen fans are in for a treat, as one upcoming game plans to "create a new genre" entirely.
First airing back in 2020, Jujutsu Kaisen has become one of the most successful anime of recent years, which is perhaps no surprise considering it is based on a manga series of the same name which is one of the best-selling of all time. The story follows high school student Yuji Itadori who joins a secret society of Jujutsu Sorcerers who must eliminate a powerful curse known as Ryomen Sakuna, but with Yuji being the host of Sakuna, this is easier said than done.
Now, a video game based on the hit anime is currently in development courtesy of poncle. However, it seems as though this will not be your standard video-game-anime-adaptation, as the official press release reads, "From the creator of Vampire Survivors, Luca Galante and Shueisha Games, a new take on the genre. A poncle production set in the world of Jujutsu Kaisen, creating a new genre."
Set to launch later this year, JUJUTSU KAISEN RUMBLE: SURVIVATON is a "survivors royale" where you will battle cursed spirits and rival sorcerers, all whilst gradually growing more and more powerful throughout the run. As you battle to outscore your rivals, you will slowly climb to the top. Most importantly: survive, exorcise, and change the game.
As you build your loadout, unlock "rule-changing" effects and fight to become the last player standing, you will be able to choose between solo play or up to eight player co-op.
Cut through waves of cursed spirits, rack up points, and keep pace with your rivals' as the match grows more intense.
Your attacks trigger automatically, so the focus is on movement, positioning, and choosing the right moment to strike back with rule-changing effects.
At 100 points, activate a "Rule Addition" to disrupt your opponents, steal momentum, and climb the rankings.
In the end, the top 2 players face off in a 1v1 duel, where only one will emerge victorious.
Featuring over 20+ fan-favorite characters from the show, JUJUTSU KAISEN RUMBLE: SURVIVATON is the ultimate experience for lovers of both the anime and manga, especially as these characters will have access to their canon powers such as Domain Expansion, Black Flash, and beyond.
If you are feeling the pain of the Jujutsu Kaisen hiatus and want yet another release to look forward to, look no further than JUJUTSU KAISEN RUMBLE: SURVIVATON, which is available to add to your wishlist right now.
