Tubi has some interesting options for Halloween, with a classic horror comedy and a thriller that feel right at home in the holiday, and a Sydney Sweeney R-rated erotic thriller also fitting in tonally. On last weekend's Tubi recommendations, I went over why viewers might be interested in Tom Hanks' iconic Forrest Gump, Marvel's Spider-Man: Homecoming, and Adam Driver's dinosaur action movie 65.
Hanks' movie is the only entry of the three to be currently trending on the streaming service. At the time of writing, Forrest Gump is the 2nd most popular film on Tubi's Top 10 Movies list, according to FlixPatrol. That said, we are moving away from that tone this weekend. After all, with October coming to an end, it is Halloween time, and it is all about darker movies, if not outright horror entries.
The best movies to watch on Tubi for free this weekend were chosen with the holiday in mind. That said, not all of them are gruesome horror movies, allowing viewers with different tastes to enjoy what the streamer has to offer. One of them is a classic horror comedy that started a franchise, another is a horror thriller that features a new MCU X-Men star, and there is also a Sweeney erotic thriller. These are the best movies to watch for free on Tubi this weekend:
3 Scary Movie (2000)
First up is the light option for this Halloween weekend on Tubi, though thematically fitting for the holiday. Scary Movie is a parody of slasher movies that pokes fun at some of the biggest horror franchises around. Its killer is directly based on Scream's Ghostface. Scary Movie started the franchise with a bang, grossing $278 million on a reported budget of $19 million. If you are looking for a comedy this Halloween, there is probably no better option.
Scary Movie is hilarious, playing with horror clichés, offering pure, dumb fun. Anna Faris as Cindy Campbell and Regina Hall as Brenda Meeks anchor the horror comedy franchise, starting with this first movie, in which the Wayans brothers also play a major role both behind and in front of the camera. Scary Movie is the Halloween option on Tubi to just turn off your brain and enjoy with a popcorn bucket.
2 Ready or Not (2019)
On to more intense offerings on the free streaming service. Tubi holds one of the best recent horror thrillers, Samara Weaving's Ready or Not. After the actress was cast as Emma Frost in the MCU's X-Men movie, Marvel fans that are unfamiliar with her work should take the chance to check it out on the perfect date for it. Ready or Not is scary, bloody and full of twists, making it perfect for Tubi this Halloween weekend.
Ready or Not follows Weaving as Grace, who is set to marry into the rich and powerful Le Domas family. However, what she does not know is that they have plenty of skeletons in their closet, with a tradition that every new member of the family must draw a card from the Le Bail puzzle box. Drawing "Hide-and-Seek," Grace is subsequently hunted by the Le Domas family, who have to kill her before the night is over, otherwise a curse will take them instead. Nobody Wants This' Adam Brody also stars.
1 The Voyeurs (2021)
Finally, the only non-horror movie on the list is Sydney Sweeney's The Voyeurs. That said, the R-rated erotic thriller fits in with the holiday due to its dark story with shocking twists. Sweeney plays Pippa, while Justice Smith is Thomas. The young couple realize that they can see everything that goes on in the apartment across the street, where Natasha Liu Bordizzo's Julia and Ben Hardy's Sebastian live.
The movie starts out as a sensual fantasy, with Sweeney and Smith's characters observing the couple across the street in intimate moments. However, as Pippa starts to get drawn to the mysterious neighbors, The Voyeurs descends into incredibly dark territory. This is one for adults and a fitting option on Tubi to end the Halloween weekend.
