J&K: PDP leader detained after calling terrorist Burhan Wani a 'martyr'

NEW DELHI: PDP leader Abdul Kabir referred to Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist Burhan Wani as a "martyr" during a speech at an event in Jammu and Kashmir.He was later detained in Kishtwar for questioning over the remark.Earlier, news agency ANI asked Kabir about his use of the term "martyr" for the slain terrorist. He said, "I had stated that when Burhan Wani was killed, BJP leaders visited his home and provided compensation. It is our freedom to decide whether or not to call him a martyr. We live in a democratic country. This is my personal view."Burhan Wani was 21 when he was killed by security forces in Kokernag in Anantnag district. He was a posterboy of the Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist group.
