Bengkulu (ANTARA) - Bengkulu Province is holding the 2026 Gebyar Semarak Merah Putih festival in Rejang Lebong District to expand market access for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and develop the local creative economy.

"Local events need to be continuously developed as a strategy to strengthen the tourism sector and drive local economic growth," Assistant for Economic and Development Affairs at the Bengkulu Provincial Secretariat RA Denni said in Bengkulu on Tuesday.

According to Denni, the ten-day event, which runs through November 10, provides an opportunity for MSME players, artists, and creative communities to introduce their products and works to a wider audience, while also offering entertainment.

He said the festival is part of the Bengkulu provincial government's program, which is being held in several districts across the province.

The festival is supported by an award received by Bengkulu for the provincial government's achievements in controlling regional inflation and reducing unemployment.

Denni also highlighted the commitment of the Bengkulu governor and deputy governor through the Bantu Rakyat (People's Assistance) Program, particularly in improving interregional connectivity through the construction and upgrading of roads and bridges.

"In Rejang Lebong District, at least 96.57 percent of provincial roads are currently in good condition," he said.

The 2026 Gebyar Semarak Merah Putih festival features 32 activities designed to benefit the public, particularly MSMEs and creative economy players.

"MSME players should make the most of this opportunity. The event gives business owners a chance to promote Rejang Lebong's leading products and expand their markets," Rejang Lebong Acting District Head Hendri Praja said.

Several agenda items focus on MSMEs, including digital MSME training and coffee barista workshops. The event also features an inclusive performance showcasing people with disabilities.

Various activities have been arranged to enliven the festival, including coloring competitions, qasidah performances, marching competitions, Red and White Carnival, fun walk and 5 Km fun run, health checkups, blood donation services, and a market bazaar, as well as cultural performances, including kudang kepang traditional dance shows.
