Edia Re-Releases Falcom's Dragon Slayer: The Legend of Heroes I & II Games
Edia announced on Wednesday that it will re-release Nihon Falcom's Dragon Slayer: The Legend of Heroes and Dragon Slayer: The Legend of Heroes II role-playing games. Edia did not announce a release date or platforms for the games. Edia will specifically re-release the PC-98 versions of the games, which adds voice acting to specific scenes.
Dragon Slayer: The Legend of Heroes and Dragon Slayer: The Legend of Heroes II are the first two games in Nihon Falcom's long-running The Legend of Heroes RPG series, and were initially part of their earlier Dragon Slayer RPG series. The two games initially released on PC-88 in 1989 and 1992, respectively. The first game inspired a two-episode original video anime (OVA) project in 1992. Urban Vision released the OVA on VHS in North America in 1997.
After the first two games, Nihon Falcom released the connected "Gagharv Trilogy" of games in the series, dropping the series' connections to Dragon Slayer. After that trilogy, Nihon Falcom released The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky in 2004, beginning the "Trails" subseries of interconnected games. Every game in the series has since been part of the "Trails" subseries. The subseries has 13 non-remake installments, the latest of which is The Legend of Heroes: Trails Beyond the Horizon, which debuted in Japan in September 2024. Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter and Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter, a remake of the first two games in the "Trails" series, went on sale in September 2025 and on September 17, 2026, respectively.
