Alleged drunk driver rams into 2 putting up road signs in KL

An alleged drunk driver rammed his car into two workers installing road signs along the Sultan Iskandar Highway in Kuala Lumpur, early this morning, killing one victim.
Kuala Lumpur traffic police chief Zamzuri Isa said the incident occurred at around 5am along the highway, in the direction from Jalan Damansara to Jalan Parlimen.
He said the driver, aged 26, had lost control of his car before ramming into the two victims, who were working with three other colleagues.
They were installing road signs on the left lane of the highway.
A 28-year-old work supervisor died while he was being treated for his injuries while a 49-year-old driver of a lorry used in the installation work suffered injuries to his head and right arm. He has been admitted to Kuala Lumpur Hospital (HKL).
“The driver of the car was not injured. A breathalyser test recorded a blood alcohol level of 64mg/100ml (exceeding the permitted limit of 50mg).
“He has been remanded for three days till Oct 26 to assist in the investigation,” Zamzuri said in a statement.
The case is being investigated under the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death while driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
