For 'outstanding vision', Bhutan dedicates one of 108 stupas to PM Modi

Bhutan dedicates one of 108 stupas near its border with Assam to PM Narendra Modi, honouring his contribution to India-Bhutan friendship

NEW DELHI: Minister of parliamentary affairs Kiren Rijiju described as a huge honour Bhutan's decision to dedicate a stupa to PM Narendra Modi for his "outstanding vision and commitment to friendship between India and Bhutan".The stupa dedicated to Modi is one of the 108 stupas that thousands of volunteers erected in a single day, each 15m tall and separated by 108m on an 11.7km stretch along the Aie (Mau) river within Gelephu Mindfulness City near the border with Assam. The project aims to showcase Gelephu Mindfulness City as a prominent center of Vajrayana Buddhism, while simultaneously representing the values and culture of the Bhutanese people.

"On Lhabab Duchen, joined the sacred ceremony... Bhutan marking the raising and consecration of 108 stupas, accompanied by blowing of Dungchens," Rijiju posted on X, adding, "A meaningful spiritual occasion, reflecting Bhutan's rich Buddhist heritage and the enduring bonds of friendship between our two nations."
