Orlando Pirates star repeats his own historical feat for Bafana Bafana

Orlando Pirates star Oswin Appollis is producing his club form for Bafana Bafana. He’s just outdone himself in the 5-0 rout of Eritrea.
Appollis dazzles for Bafana again
Orlando Pirates winger Oswin Appollis has become the nation’s go-to creative option. He claimed a hat-trick of assists against Eritrea in South Africa’s 5-0 win on Wednesday. The last player to claim three assists in a single game for South Africa? You guessed it, Appollis in 2024 against Congo.

Pitso’s favourite starts against Eritrea
31-year-old Bathusi Aubaas has made three Betway Premiership appearances this term with one assist. The last time he made double figures for league appearances was his 14 outings in the 2024-25 campaign. However, across that and the following season, he failed to score or assist a single goal. Several fans online believe he’s lucky to be part of the latest Bafana setup. The midfield man started against Eritrea but came off with an injury in the 12th minute. South Africa have started life under new boss Pitso Mosimane with two AFCON qualifying wins. Next up is a friendly clash with Egypt on Sunday, 4 October at 20:00.
What’s next for Orlando Pirates?
Appollis and his fellow defending Betway Premiership champions face Mamelodi Sundowns in the MTN8 final on Saturday, 10 October at 15:00.
