EXCLUSIVE: Canadian-American producer Enlighten Content has snapped up Tubi exec Brett Takeshita.

He has joined as Senior VP, Development & Production at the Calamity Jane, @Home with Tori and Deadly Entanglement. At Enlighten, Takeshita will oversee development and production of a slate of features and movies.

Takeshita’s exit comes a week after former Tubi exec Ashla Soter joined Digital Sword having left the streamer a month prior.

During four years at Tubi, he worked on more than 130 projects and shepherded originals such as the Sidelined trilogy starring Noah Beck and Siena Agudong and the Taye Diggs vehicle Stepfather.

Prior to Tubi, he he worked at Hallmark Media, working on holiday murder mystery telemovies, having begun his career writing, producing and directing web series and digital content for the likes of Funny or Die and Urban Movie Channel (now ALLBLK). During that time, he worked with Enlighten on shows such as @Home with Tori.

Enlighten CEO Jacob Nasser said: “Brett has an incredible instinct for material and a proven track record of taking projects from an idea all the way through completion and into the marketplace. We’re excited to have him helping shape our growing slate and the company’s next phase.”

“I’ve spent my career working across both the creative and business sides of the industry, and I’ve always loved the process of finding a great idea, helping shape it through collaboration, and ultimately seeing it become something audiences genuinely want to watch,” added Takeshita.

“I’m especially thrilled to be doing it alongside Jacob Nasser and the Enlighten Content team. Since we first started working together, I’ve loved the way we approach the creative process together. The opportunity to build a slate with them that is commercially smart, filmmaker-driven and unique is something I’m really excited about.”
