Emmerdale – is Sadie King lying about Jimmy? Every clue so far

In marvellously camp scenes which mirrored her first appearance, Sadie King is back in Emmerdale – and she's dropped a life-changing bombshell on Nicola!
With her sudden arrival raising eyebrows in the village, Sadie soon made it clear she was back to pay tribute to Jimmy. But confusion reigned as she revealed she had been living with him and the pair had been in a relationship for the last three years!
With doubts and theories circling, we've compiled a list of the reasons why we think Sadie could be telling the truth – and why we're very suspicious that something doesn't add up!
1. Jimmy's secrets

In some of his final scenes in Emmerdale, Bob reminded Jimmy and the audience that he's one of life's good guys. We were fully inclined to agree until Sadie threw a spanner in the works with her gobsmacking announcement.
But despite Jimmy being the epitome of a family man, he was struggling under the weight of many secrets, so it's very possible that Sadie was added into the mix.
Not only was Jimmy secretly behind on his mortgage payments and leaving Nicola with a mountain of debt, but he also sold the business in a dodgy deal with Caleb and Ruby without a word to his wife.
It's not the first time there have been big communication issues between the pair, but lying about another woman for years seems like a step too far, even for Jimmy.
But as next week's spoilers reveal, Nicola discovers the financial hell he's left her in, and she's bound to doubt his word…
2. The life of a lorry driver

Jimmy's career at the haulage firm meant he was often away from home for long stretches of time, and as Robert pointed out in today's dramatic Woolpack scenes, it would be the perfect cover for a double life.
But like Eric, we're still struggling to imagine Jimmy of all people balancing the logistics involved! According to Sadie, she and Jimmy have been living together for three years. Is it really plausible that Jimmy's been popping back and forth for the last few years?
Even in times of strife, through his nephew Tom's reign of abuse and Angel's young offenders ordeal, Jimmy and Nicola have stayed together and united. It's hard to believe he wouldn't have slipped up once or twice if it had been going on. Only so many games of golf could cover up a secret life!
3. Nicola's suspicions

Nicola might be desperate to believe Sadie's lying now, but it wasn't long ago she was accusing her husband of cheating on her! Her spidey senses were tingling after Jimmy took her for a date in the pub after she accused him of neglecting her, but it was finding a necklace that made her really question his loyalty.
However, Jimmy quickly cleared the air, wishing she'd spoken to him instead of Laurel, and handed over the engraved jewellery. Nicola might've accused Jimmy of being unromantic, but his words told a different story.
Hopeless as he is sometimes, Jimmy promised he'd retire so they could spend more time together and said such heartfelt things about his wife that he'd have to be an incredible liar to pull off a double life.
Not appreciating his wife is one thing, but Jimmy was a genuine and kind man. It's impossible to think he'd lie and cheat for three years no matter what Sadie says! But could Nicola's suspicions have been right all along?
4. The hotel phone call

In the aftermath of Jimmy's death, Nicola received a phone call from a hotel in Harrogate asking about an unpaid room service bill. We know Jimmy was preparing for a vow renewal ceremony to surprise Nico – so was the hotel part of that romantic treat?
But if the hotel was part of her surprise, who'd been ordering room service? And why hadn't Jimmy paid it? Could he have met Sadie here for a secret rendezvous? But if so, doesn't that contradict her story that they were living together behind Nicola's back?
5. Sadie's not to be trusted

The grieving widow act? We don't buy it for one minute! Sadie's bombastic return comes with certain expectations and unless Emmerdale bosses have given her a total personality transplant, we're expecting the show's iconic gold digger to scheme every step of the way!
The last time Sadie landed in the village, she plotted, cheated and blackmailed her way around the Dales, desperate to be wealthy even when she was kicked out of the King family. And it's hard to believe the Sadie of old would be interested in a man as hard up as Jimmy!
Times change, but surely a reformed Sadie would be a big disappointment for fans after all these years? Would bosses really bring her back to play nice? She left the village with nothing but a sports car, so is she actually back to swindle Nicola out of Jimmy's remaining fortune? If there is any!
6. A big clue from soap bosses

With Jimmy barely cold, Sadie's wasted no time in staking her claim on him. But has a hint from producer Laura Shaw given the whole game away before the helicopter even landed?
Speaking at a press event in July, Laura teased, "It's Sadie King – of course she's got an agenda."
Although, the Emmerdale boss warned there might be more than meets the eye to Sadie's revelations! "The secret she comes back with is going to be absolutely shocking," she said. "And whether all is quite as it seems, we will see as the story progresses." Is this our biggest clue yet that Sadie is playing a long game of lies?
As the story progresses this week and beyond, there are further clues to Sadie's intentions in the village. Will her next move prove Jimmy's innocence or fuel new theories about their apparent clandestine relationship?
