DICT chief Henry Aguda has resigned, says Ombudsman Remulla

Asked about Aguda’s status, Remulla said “Nag-resign. Tinanggap na ‘yung resignation.” (He resigned. The resignation was accepted.)

Aguda denied resignation rumors last Wednesday, October 7. He said, “I am aware of the reports circulating regarding my position as Secretary of the Department of Information and Communications Technology” and that he continued to serve as the DICT chief.

Aguda and the DICT faced a controversy in the past weeks over the government’s efforts to regulate and block online platforms, including a decision to ban Discord, which was met with a severe backlash from users of the platform, including workers.
