KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 7 — Professional mixed doubles pair Goh Soon Huat-Shevon Lai Jemie suffered a shock first-round exit at the Arctic Open 2026 after going down to England’s Samuel Jones-Lizzie Tolman in Vantaa, Finland, yesterday.

The eighth-seeded Malaysians took the opening game but were unable to maintain their momentum, eventually falling 27-25, 18-21, 15-21 to the unseeded English duo in a 63-minute battle at the Energia Arena.

With the victory, Jones and Tolman advanced to the second round, where they will face Sweden’s Filip Karlborg-Tilda Sjoo, who defeated Germany’s Simon Krax-Amelie Lehmann 21-17, 21-9.

The Super 500 tournament, which offers total prize money of US$500,000 (RM2.04 million), runs until October 11. — Bernama
