The Kano State House of Assembly has extended the suspension of the chairmen of Rogo, Bagwai and Bebeji Local Government Areas by another three months.

The House also extended the mandate of the ad hoc committee investigating allegations against the three council chairmen by the same period.

This was contained in a statement issued on Monday by the Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker, Kamaluddeen Shawai, a copy of which was made available to PUNCH Online.

According to the statement, the House had initially given the committee three months to conduct a thorough investigation and submit its report.

“With the expiration of the initial period, the House has now extended both the suspension of the chairmen and the mandate of the committee by another three months, to enable the committee to further examine the petitions, conclude its investigation, and submit its report to the House within the next three months,” it said.

The Assembly had suspended the three chairmen over allegations of financial misappropriation, abuse of office and other acts of misconduct.

The affected chairmen are Bello Abdullahi Gadanya of Bagwai, Dr Alhassan Salisu of Bebeji and Abubakar Mustapha of Rogo.
