2027: Kano APC chieftain urges unity, dialogue

Translate

ABUJA — Ahead of the 2027 general elections, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State, Aminu Shehu Uba Sharada, has appealed to President Bola Tinubu and the Director-General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council (PCC), Senator Abdulaziz Yari, to urgently intervene in what he described as disagreements among party leaders and stakeholders in the state.

Sharada, who is Personal Assistant to Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, made the appeal in a statement on Sunday, saying the differences within the Kano APC needed to be addressed to prevent possible consequences for the party in the 2027 elections.

He urged the national leadership to initiate consultations, reconciliation and genuine political engagement with relevant stakeholders in the state.

Sharada said, “Let me be frank: anyone giving the impression that everything is fine within the Kano APC is not giving the President the full picture.

“There are disagreements and visible concerns among party leaders and stakeholders, and if they are not addressed early, they could have wider consequences for the party.”

According to him, there was no justification for the continued disagreements and confrontations within the party, arguing that the challenges ahead were bigger than individual interests.

“At this point, I believe there is no justification for the continued disagreements, confrontations and arguments within our party in Kano State. The challenges before us are bigger than individual interests, and the only way forward is for our leaders and stakeholders to come together and resolve their differences in the interest of the party,” he said.

Sharada said the APC’s immediate responsibility should be to build a united party capable of securing electoral victories at the presidential, governorship, senatorial, House of Representatives and State House of Assembly levels.

He therefore appealed to Tinubu and Yari to pay particular attention to the situation in the Kano chapter and facilitate what he described as a timely intervention.

“This is not the time to take sides or deepen existing divisions. It is time for consultation, reconciliation and genuine political engagement.

“Every leader and stakeholder has a role to play in bringing the various interests together and rebuilding confidence within the party,” he said.

Sharada said the APC had a broad base of committed members and stakeholders in Kano, adding that what was needed was leadership capable of bringing the various interests together, listening to their concerns and establishing a common direction.

He urged the national and state leadership of the party to act swiftly and place the interests of the APC above personal disagreements.

“There is still time to resolve our differences. What is required now is the political will, sincerity and leadership to do so,” he said.
